Caribbean Tranquility

If there were ever a time for travel, unquestionably that time would be now. In this modern era where A.D. and B.C. are akin to post and pre September 11th, we’ve come to rediscover ourselves and our inner spirit. We’ve found that spring in our step; that zest in our otherwise monotonous lives. Suddenly, all our previous worries are minor in comparison to everything else. Like a gnat that causes no harm but just lingers a little too long. We have regained an awareness encompassing all of our five senses and even tapped into a previously dormant sixth one. With a new year comes new hope and new paths of exploration, bringing us another step closer to our dreams and wishes. What better way to tempt the senses and rejuvenate the soul than with sunsets and flora that not even a photograph could quite capture or with savory tastes that even if you could prepare just aren’t the same unless someone else prepares them. Or, perhaps you are a hands on type of person. There are the tepid shallows where cool crystal waters should be accompanied by “ford” when referring to its clarity and beauty and because any diver or snorkeler will attest that what lies beneath is truly priceless. There are just as many sounds to occupy the feast for your eyes too. From a Rastafarian’s scratch scratch rhythm to the surf breaking the west end of a beach and stretching to the far east until the turquoise Caribbean Sea pulls it back like the way a mother never lets her young stray too far. It’s a game she’s become quite good at. And, that is why we too never stray too far for too long. Even when we’ve fallen victim to the monotony that is the cycle of work and daily life, she’s right there tempting us. And, we can always remember that favorite hammock, the sweet taste of rum punch on the lips, and feel the pleasant trade winds on our sun drenched faces. Just thinking about all the pleasures puts a smile on your face and a feeling of euphoria in your mind.

That must be that sixth sense they talk about.
