A woman stuck in traffic

She was attempting to press forward but her mind
careened ahead of her logic and
was lost out of control.
“It’s killing me..” she thought…“the exhaust is everywhere”.
She blinked in unison with the wiper blades
as a lone tear made its way
down her porcelain features; never to freeze,
only to disperse into a fibrous underworld.
If you looked hard enough,
all of her blouses were somewhat spotted.
The brine never fully washed out.
The commute was brutal and
her stability shifted with each thought.
Right brain,
Left brain,
again in unison with the wiper blades.
Somewhere into a mid-carbon monoxide breathe,
her eyelids embraced the motion.
If only she could blink and wash away
the unnecessary things; like
the way the wipers shift from side to side,
every trace of the car ahead…erased.
