Get the jalapenos rockin' dude! then put 'em on pizzas, anything you can think of. Watch out for that hydroponic pot business though, Con Ed bills go way up because of the electricity and before you know it you're in the news with the Upper East Side madam.
Jalapenos are one of 4 different peppers I am growing though I don't believe any of my peppers have sprouted yet (should be another week or so).
I just planted my basil seeds yesterday Shaw so I hope they all start sprouting here within the next couple of weeks. Kristie and I love pesto and bruschetta so we will need basil for that.
The jalapenos can be quite prolific, you could be picking them 'til Fall. Tomatoes and the ugly hornworm, I still have vivid memories as a kid when my Dad would have to get them off the plants for my Mom. Rumor has it that pennyroyal keeps fleas away and comfrey is good for broken bones. The beautiful thing about parsley is it'll keep right through the Winter under the snow, same with kale. Didn't know soapie was a gardener!
We have so much basil at the end of summer that I'm forced to preserve as much as I can by chopping it in the food processor with olive oil and some salt, then putting it up in jars and freezing it for later use as pesto, or just great flavoring for soups and stews.
The rest of the herbs get dried and then ground up and put into sealed glass jars to be used as "bouquet garni" during the fall, winter, and spring.

What other peppers are you growing? I just got packet of mixed hot varieties so it will all be a surprise. Same with tomatoes. It will be fun.
I really hate pesto. I used to hate cilantro but ever since my trip to Dallas my inner Latina woke up and I love it. Go figure.
