Due Process is DOA

Soap... I've been talking to my friends about this very issue since it happened.

As i have listened, the sense I am hearing is this...

So what, he was a terrorist...

When pressed, they say he was an American citizen who committed treason.

When I ask them how that decision was made, and what would happen if the government, or President, decided they were committing treason for speaking out against our government on foreign soil, or even here, the response is always "That would never happen."

The majority of people seem to be just glad he is dead. Don't ask, don't tell... applied to due process...

10 years ago, I would have thought this to be a SNL skit, but it is cold, stark reality.

Tea party conservatives cheering the death of someone nothing like you, you are next on the list.

And people tell me that anarchy would be complete chaos, madness; total absence of law.

If he was indeed a terrorist then it ought not have been any problem to bring those charges and subsequent evidence to the forefront.

Apparently morality is dead too.

I am guessing the removed post was pretty supportive of the action.

It seems there could be a way to rationally discuss this stuff, but to do so gets you branded a terrorist.

To some, there is only one way to act... shoot first, ask questions later.

What do we do and how do we move forward...

I am not encouraged...

The removed post was intended for another blog post wherein the commenter made the same comment which I left there.

As a whole, I'm not encouraged either. It is for that reason that I quite enjoy my marry band of liberty brethren and our ever growing movement.

The shit storm is likely going to come. I'm going to need their support as they will mine.

I'm always looking for a good rational discussion. It seems that so few others are.

When you combine the new focus on domestic terrorism with this action, you have the recipe for a totalitarian nightmare.

Trestin, you make this sound all so new... this is nothing more than the logical extension of an insipid doctrine that says we have the right to act preemptively if we determine we are threatened.

If we accept this as a perfectly valid way to conduct ourselves internationally, would we then also acknowledge that other countries have that same right?

That's such a compelling argument you make there Mr. Brian S.

I know it must be difficult for you to comprehend the rule of law as well as view the enclosed admission that said rule of law has been shelved. Perhaps you should see a therapist to help you cope.

Lastly, if you have something constructive to add to the discussion then by all means present it. If your arguments are merely going to be reduced to juvenile ad hominem attacks. They will be removed.
