Betty McCollum to explain why she purposely omitted the words “under God” while leading the Pledge of Allegiance on the House floor. Today on Fox News’ TheFoxNation.com website, Betty McCollum is shown in a C-SPAN video leading Congress in the Pledge of Allegiance on the House floor and omitting the words “Under God”.

The pledge does have questionable origins, no doubt about it. However, I'd be hard pressed to find too many Americans who actually know that, or even think that the pledge promotes socialism in the modern age. In fact, at least the pledge recognizes God as a higher authority than government. At one time, the pledge did not have God in it.

After I read Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg I never felt the same about the pledge again!
