Chatted up a couple guys on the bus today (neither of which would vote for me) and the one guy held a belief that we have a moral obligation towards complete strangers. He even went so far as to say he found it to be our moral purpose. But, when I asked him if it is by this same morality that we employ the brute force of government to maintain it he emitted no reply.
Then there was another girl; a Democrat Neo-Con if ever there were such a thing, who when I mentioned my research and pursuit to reaffirm the National Guard not as a foreign fighting force (2700 Minnesota Guard troops are set to deploy next summer to Iraq and Kuwait. It will be the largest callup since WWII) but rather as a domestic force she disagreed and had no compunction with employing such a stategy. I must say, it was especially surreal given that behind her in the garage was an Al Franken lawn sign and another one behind it (presumably Obama '08 given what portion of it I could see).
Morrison was dead on: People are strange...
