K-12 Beautiful bureaucracy in Action!!!

The control of our children's education has long since been taken over in place of a full frontal assault on the local schools. If you're not homeschooling your kids or sending them to private school. Perhaps this will put you over the edge.

Personally, it makes me sick. Check out 33 minutes into the vid.

Considering I can't really homeschool and work and deal with the autism thing, and considering the only options for private school is the Catholic abominations (my experience makes me long for the government schools), I get to fight the insanity of the government schools for the next 14 years. At least it will make for interesting blog posts, especially when one of my kids ends up with an ignorant slut for a teacher.

What many people neglect to consider when citing their work obligations as a reason for not homeschooling is the idea of a co-op. Secondly, many studies find that an 8 hour a day teaching regimen is not altogether necessary. While it is true that you may very well be unable to school your children 5 days a week, you very likely could rearrange your work schedule into 4 days thus leaving you available to teach your kids one day out of the week. Another person could then do another day and so on and so on and so on.

If we truly want to reverse the cycle that we proclaim to be against, it's going to take real honest and localized organizing. There is no magic pill; no silver bullet. It's going to be as slow a process getting out as it was getting in.

I love the Food Revolution show! What I think is important if you do send your kids to public schools is to consider yourself as a parent still their primary teachers for many things, such as nutrition and life skills. If the schools do not reinforce what I teach, then my kids know what we expect of them.

Also, I pack my kids lunches myself.
