Love this little nugget:
"House Minority Whip Eric Cantor of Virginia, one of 10 leaders who attended a strategy session in Annapolis, Md., this week, said the party will attack Democrats relentlessly for the stimulus, health care and cap-and-trade bills. Internally, Republicans call it the “80-20 strategy,” which, loosely interpreted, means spending 80 percent of the time whacking Democrats and the remainder talking up their own ideas."
As I've been saying, it is the flip side to the same coin. 80% attacking Democrats? And for what? The stimulus package? Newsflash Cantor you dolt. Perhaps it's escaped your feeble little mind but you voted YEA on the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008. And so did the other Republican "leader" in the House John Boehner.
Okay so maybe you'll get them on Healthcare right? DOH! Looks like once again both you and Boehner voted YEA on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003. Lest you forget, not only was the bill debated and voted on in the wee hours but similarly, just as the Democrats did, financial promises were made in an effort to purchase Yea votes which had previously been Nay votes. What's more, despite the fiscal boondoggle that Medicare Parts A & B presented (unfunded liabilities of $68 Trillion), you and your minions who are now proclaiming to save us from that dreaded "government run healthcare" have contributed an additional $17.2 Trillion in unfunded liabilities by adding Part D! To summarize, let's consider this telling quote from former comptroller general of the United States David Walker: "...probably the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960's...because we promise way more than we can afford to keep."
Okay so that's strike two buddy. Ah but wait...you're not out yet. Why you've still got one more shot to knock this shit out of the park. Here's the wind up....and the pitch is Cap-and-trade....
STTTTTRRRIIIKKE!!! (Hell, you could have even put Boehner in as a pinch hitter and still come up lame)
While it is true that both you and Boehner voted Nay on the much more robust 2007 energy bill, the both of you voted Yea on the Energy Policy Act of 2005 which proved to be little more than a precursor to the 2007 bill.
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 provided tax relief and incentives for the procurement and usage of alternative energy technology. This energy act contained many provisions that were intended to make a definite impact in the war against global warming and the fight to protect the environment. Some of the provisions:
- Funding for low-income homes in an attempt to improve their energy efficiency
- Tax credits for owners of hybrid vehicles
- Subsidies for emerging types of alernative energy and for wind energy
- The banning of drilling in the Great Lakes region
- Extension of Daylight Savings Time in order to lower energy consumption by best utilizing the daytime hours
- Increased tax breaks for individuals who install energy efficient windows, appliances, etc.
Seriously Cantor....you might want to invest that 80% on rebuilding your credibility.

Some of those darned stubborn facts, huh?
Stubborn indeed. I called 2 of 3 offices of Cantor's yesterday to remind the staffers.
There will certainly be plenty of ammunition for that 80%.
