Huh. Would have guessed some sort of European terrior. Given the high-strung poodle temperament vs the laid-back nature of labs, how does this guy measure up? BTW, nice looking dog!
Thanks BB. With respect to his temperament, he's still a puppy so we have to take that into account. But, 2 of the trainers at the Humane Society had asked me about him and how old he was. When I said 6 months they were taken aback.
When I asked why they said because they'd have guessed about 15-16 months based on his temperament. So I guess he's doing alright.
I have to say he's pretty well behaved (except for his affinity for chewing on sticks and bark off of the tree in the backyard). And, compared to many of the other dogs (some of which are older than he) in the Level 4 training class, he "gets it" much more than they.
Poodles I'm told are one of the smartest breeds and certainly Labs are pretty smart as well and very eager to please. That said, I think I've got a good mix here.
He's funny, smart, and distinguished. I guess that's why we named him Winston (after Churchill or else Winston Smith from Orwell's 1984).

I can't believe how big he has grown, and he isn't done yet I'm sure.
Happy Half Birthday!
Perhaps you mentioned it previously, but what breed of dog is the young one?
He's a 6 month old Labradoodle. Lest we forget, I had mine before the Obamas thought about getting one.
